PermaCrete - A Sure Bet!

Brett Michelsen has been a PermaCrete Dealer in Bermuda since 1999. Of all his many successes in installing PermaCrete, he is particularly proud of the one at his uncle’s home on the beach.

It seems his uncle, Danny Fagundo, had never had good experiences with any products installed on the exterior walls of his house. No matter what products Mr. Fagundo used, it always resulted in flaking or peeling. “I don’t think anything will work,” Mr. Fagundo professed. However, Brett had a better idea…a PermaCrete idea.

Laitance & Efflorescence

Laitance and efflorescence are white, powdery materials found on new concrete surfaces. Laitance consists mainly of cement particles that rise to the surface of freshly placed concrete. Efflorescense is salt that remains on the surface of concrete, brick, and masonry after the evaporation of water. Laitence and efflorescense must be removed before resurfacing because they create a bondbreaker with the new product. Coating over these residues is like coating over dust and other contaminents.
