Vertical Installation Tech Tip

The growing popularity of ICF construction, both residential and commercial, increases the importance of being familiar with the crucial steps in applying a vertical installation of PERMA·CRETE®.

A unique PERMA·CRETE® surface offers significant advantages over other coating products used to resurface building surfaces such as plaster, Dryvit, or reduced strength, synthetic stuccos, products which usually contain little, if any, Portland cement and provide less protection from weather erosion and other frequent surface abuses like staining, chipping, or cracking.

Low Area Fill Procedures Tech Tip

When filling a low area with Matrix Mix of more than 3/16th inch, but less than 1 inch, in order to level the surface, the following procedures should be used to ensure the best adhesion for the PERMA•CRETE® fill procedures.

1. Thoroughly clean the surface using Blue Nitro or Orange Power. Make sure all cleaning residue is removed from the surface.
2. Apply an application of Bonding Additive directly onto the surface by using a paint brush or mop.
3. When using Matrix Mix to fill areas of more than 1 inch in depth, the following procedures should be used to ensure proper adhesion between the substrate and Matrix Mix.
1. Clean the area as in #1 above.
2. Apply two coats of Bonding Additive on the area to be filled, as described in #2 above.
3. Immediately, or within seven (7) days, mix Matrix Mix, along with washed pea gravel and Bonding Additive and apply to the mixture to fill area. NOTE: Do not mix more than 10-15 pounds of pea gravel per 40 pound bag of Matrix Mix. Let the installed material set for at least 24 hours.
