Dennis and Judy Brown found out just how diverse PermaCrete can be when they decided to use it on the construction of their new home in Red Bluff, California.
"We didn't learn about Perma·Crete until construction of our house was well underway. The product had a lot of appeal because we could apply it directly over the Quad Lock (Insulated Concrete Foam) exterior surface, and it was said to be stronger than stucco," said Judy.
After their Dealer training course in Nashville, they were so impressed with the product that they decided to use it on all the exterior walls and many interior surfaces as well. As construction proceeded, Judy kept finding more and more uses for PermaCrete. Their motto soon became, "We'll just put PermaCrete over it!"
Many circumstances arose where the subcontractors didn't complete a job to the Brown's specifications, so they turned to PermaCrete to finish the job. Judy says a visitor came over and said, "I never knew anyone who made their own counter tops and kitchen table."
However, counter tops weren't the only things that Dennis and Judy used PermaCrete on. They had a beautiful octagonal space where they wanted to put a custom made table. They wanted a 6.5 feet across table that would be somewhat irregularly shaped. Judy said, "PermaCrete seemed a logical material to make the top out of."
Even in the bathroom, Dennis and Judy were able to save a considerable amount of money by applying PermaCrete directly over the Quad Lock in their bathroom. "Many of our visitors are impressed and intrigued by our showers. It is immediately apparent that not having a sill to step over, or glass doors to clean, or shower curtains to fool with, or rickety rackets for all the shower paraphernalia is really great. I like how easy it is to clean the hard water deposits and soap scum off the epoxy coated walls and floor. It is much easier to clean than tile."
